My Every Day Make Up Routine

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know that make up is kind of my jam. As in, I’m totally obsessed and it’s probably an issue. My best friend once told me that I have enough make up to last a lifetime and while that may be true, there are a few products that I keep coming back to on a daily basis. I’d like to think that my routine is pretty simple in the sense that I can do my make up in around ten minutes on a good day, despite the amount of products I tend to use. Let’s do it; here’s my every day make up routine!

Shape Tape Concealer

Face

I always start with a primer for my make up to help it wear better throughout the day. Living in Phoenix, I feel like this is an absolute necessity for me. I’ve been loving the BECCA Backlight Priming Filter recently because it gives my skin a nice little glow but also super helps keep my foundation from slipping around all day. If you couldn’t tell already, I love something that is pretty long-wearing. Because of this, I absolutely love Smashbox Studio Skin foundation (shout out to my best friend for recommending this to me) because it gives amazing coverage but doesn’t feel heavy on the skin, plus it wears so well throughout the day.

I’m not the type to conceal before or after foundation simply because I don’t want to, but what I will try to hide are my (not so) awesome dark circles. They’re hereditary, so unfortunately there aren’t a lot of products I can use to help lighten them up, but I can use a great concealer to hide them. Lately I’ve been using the highly-talked about Tarte Shape Tape. I’ve found that many don’t seem to like using this for the undereye area but for me, it works so well. It brightens up the area and covers, so I’m a fan. After concealing, I only use a loose powder to set my undereye area and a bit on my nose because that’s where I can get a little oily.

Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil

Eyes

This is probably the easiest step in my entire makeup routine lately, simply because I only do my brows! About a month ago I decided get eyelash extensions and they’ve seriously been a lifesaver. I have the length and volume of dreams for my lashes, so I never feel the need to do anything else do them. I’ve loved the way it looks just having long eyelashes, plus it shaves a solid ten extra minutes on my routine. For brows, I’ve loved the Benefit Goof Proof brow pencil because it’s super quick and easy to use. I just fill in my brows, use the spoolie to soften it up, and I’m good to go! See? Easy peasy.

Highlight and Blush Cream Contour

 Highlight, Blush, and Contour

I do love a bit of extra steps on my face routine so that the foundation doesn’t appear too ‘flat’ on my skin. I love the Anastasia cream stick foundation in in Fawn as a contour on the hollows of my cheeks, the sides of my nose, and the jawline. After that, I usually use a teeny amount of the It Cosmetics Vitality Cheek Flush (teeny because a little goes a long way!) on the apples of my cheeks. This stuff seriously stays on forever and I’ve been loving it. Finally, I pop a bit of Lush Cosmetics Feeling Younger skin tint (seen in my recent monthly favorites post) as a highlight on my cheekbones and brow bone for a little glow – something that I love doing every day for a little something-something.

And there you have it! That sums up what I slap on my face every morning to look human again, and I’m pretty happy with how it all turns out. What product is an absolute must in your every day routine? Comment below and let me know!

  1. It’s interesting to see what other people do for their makeup routine. I take 45 minutes on a good day but I am an eyeshadow addict. It sounds like your everyday makeup is a lovely fresh one, I would love to see pictures of this look
